Child Safety Standards
Kiddlewood is a community app that helps parents connect with other families in their neighbourhood. Children are at the heart of why Kiddlewood exists — and children are exactly who these standards protect.
Zero tolerance
Kiddlewood has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form. This includes, without limitation:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — creating, sharing, requesting, or linking to it;
- Sexualization of minors — any content that depicts, describes, or discusses children in a sexual manner;
- Grooming and enticement — building contact with or about a child for a sexual purpose, including requests to move conversations to other platforms for that purpose;
- Sextortion, trafficking, or the facilitation of any sexual contact with a minor;
- Attempts to collect personal information about children — their names, faces, schools, schedules, or locations — beyond what a parent has chosen to share, or for any improper purpose.
Violations result in immediate content removal and permanent account termination, and — where the law requires or permits — reporting to the authorities described below. There are no second chances in this category.
How Kiddlewood is built for safety
- Adults only. Kiddlewood accounts are for adults (18+). Children are never account holders and cannot use the app. Information about children appears only because their own parent chose to share it, and other users only ever see children's age ranges — never names, birthdays, photos, schools, or locations.
- Automated screening. Text submitted to Kiddlewood — including profiles, posts, alerts, and private messages — is automatically screened by our systems against child-safety rules. Content that matches is blocked from posting and escalated for human review. Private messages are not exempt: child safety takes precedence over message privacy on this platform, and our Privacy Policy discloses this screening.
- In-app reporting on every surface. Every profile, message, post, and alert can be reported from inside the app, with a dedicated Child safety reason that goes to the top of our review queue.
- Blocking. Any user can block any other user, immediately and without explanation.
- Human review. Every report is reviewed by a human. Child-safety reports are reviewed the same day; all other reports within 24 hours.
How to report a child-safety concern
- In the app: open the profile or content → tap the ⋯ menu → Report → choose Child safety. Reports are confidential — the person you report is never told who reported them.
- By email: safety@kiddlewood.com — include screenshots or usernames if you can. Child-safety emails are answered the same day.
- If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
- You can also report directly to the authorities yourself at any time: in the US, the NCMEC CyberTipline (report.cybertip.org); outside the US, via the INHOPE network of national hotlines.
What happens when we find it
When we identify apparent CSAM or child sexual exploitation on Kiddlewood, we:
- Remove the content immediately and terminate the account;
- Report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via the CyberTipline, as United States law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A) requires of us;
- Preserve the evidence securely for at least one year, as the law requires, and never redistribute or share the material with anyone other than NCMEC or law enforcement;
- Cooperate with law-enforcement requests relating to child safety.
Compliance
Kiddlewood maintains these standards in line with:
- United States federal law, including the reporting and preservation duties of 18 U.S.C. § 2258A;
- COPPA — children cannot hold accounts; the limited children's information parents share is collected with parental consent and shown to others only as age ranges;
- Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy and Apple's App Store Review Guidelines (1.2 — User-Generated Content), including in-app reporting, blocking, content filtering, and timely human review;
- A designated child-safety point of contact, reachable at safety@kiddlewood.com.
These standards apply to everyone on Kiddlewood, everywhere in the app, including private messages. We review and update them as the product and the law evolve.
